Information we collect
We collect information in three ways.
Information you give us.
- Contact form: your name, email address and the content of your message.
- Newsletter: your email address, and your name if the form asks for it.
- Email: whatever you include when you write to info@indigenousscreenfoundation.ca.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server and our hosting provider record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and the date and time of the visit. We use it to keep the site secure and working.
Information from cookies. See the Cookies section below.
We do not ask for sensitive information through this website. Please do not include any in your messages.
How we use your information
We use your information only for the purposes below, and we ask for your consent before using it for anything else.
| Purpose | Information used | Basis |

We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Third-party services
Some features of this website rely on outside providers. Each one handles your information under its own privacy policy.
- Brevo (newsletter): when you subscribe, your details are sent to Brevo, which hosts the subscription form and sends our emails.
- CanadaHelps (donations): the “Donate” and “Support the ISF” buttons take you to CanadaHelps. Payments, receipts and donor information are handled by CanadaHelps, not by this website. We never see or store your payment details.
- Google Fonts: the site loads fonts from Google, which can receive your IP address when a page loads.
- Google Maps: the address link in the footer opens Google Maps. Google collects data only if you click it.
- Indigenous Screen Office (iso-bea.ca): links to the ISO site lead to a separate website with its own privacy practices.
We may also share information with service providers that host or maintain this site, only to the extent needed for that work and under a duty of confidentiality. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses:
- Essential cookies, needed for the site to work (language choice, security, forms). They do not require consent.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (analytics): with your consent, these tools collect data about your visit, such as pages viewed, device and approximate location, and, for Clarity, anonymized recordings of your interactions with the pages. Form fields are masked.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
Storage, retention and transfers
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for:
- Contact messages: 12 months after our last exchange, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
- Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
- Technical logs: 90 days.
Some of our providers, such as Brevo and Google, store data on servers outside Canada, including in the European Union and the United States. Your information may therefore be subject to the laws of those countries. We choose providers that apply appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law, you can:
- ask to see the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete it, where the law allows;
- withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits.
To use any of these rights, write to info@indigenousscreenfoundation.ca. We will verify your identity and respond within 30 days.
Newsletter. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you by email. Unsubscribes are processed without delay.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). If you live in Quebec, you may also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Security, children and changes
Security. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS and restricted access. No online transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children. This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes. We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version, and we will tell you about significant changes on the website.
Contact. Questions about this policy or your information: info@indigenousscreenfoundation.ca, Indigenous Screen Foundation, PO Box 587, Ohsweken, ON N0A 1M0.
